Hi there! Friday is my anything goes topic day, so here goes:
I’m thinking about starting a cocktail series, what do you guys think? I had so much fun creating Monday’s post for the Creative Collective prompt. I found the whole process really enjoyable. I liked playing around with the picture setup, and the graphics. It may come as a shock to some of you, but we rarely have liquor drinks at home, so it is somewhat new territory, though I might have done plenty a little research on the topic 😉

I’ve been putting less time into trying to socialize in the blogging world. I love all of you and clearly I want people to read my blog and I enjoy reading other people’s blogs but pushing myself about it is beginning to feel like a chore. I’m still trying to find a good balance with growing, and finding blogs and bloggers I really enjoy connecting with. I’ve always been a do my own thing kind of girl…I don’t like to follow the pack or be fake. I guess I’m just trying to say, it is hard sometimes to find bloggers I know that I will click with. Blogging is weird and it is taking me a while to get use to socializing on the internet 🙂
I appreciate all of you who take the time to read and the effort to comment…especially when I know it on a topic you could care less about…so thank you , thank you!
I’m a bit relieved that my Let’s Fly Away Series is coming to an end. I’m planning on doing one or two more on the logistics of the trip…like where we stayed, how we got around, and packing but for the most part it is completed. Yay #4 on my 101 list done!!

I’m beginning to think that having so many set scheduled posts may not be for me. I want to post what I feel like posting not necessarily posting on Wednesday because I said I would post travel on Wednesday. There will still be travel just maybe not on Wednesdays 🙂 I don’t know. Plus I might want to join all the cool kids and do a HumpDay Confession with Vodka & Soda 🙂 I know that posting on certain days is supposed to be good for your blog but it’s feeling a bit constraining.
I still like reading tips on blogging but sometimes I feel like the rules are so overwhelming. Rachelle over at Inner Loop Adventures wrote a good post on Run Social Media So It Doesn’t Run You; #5 really resonated with me. I still trying to figure out what works best for me.
Speaking of social media, I’m really debating about joining Google +. Does anyone want to give their two-cents on this?
I swear I already had this post drafted but Miriam’s post yesterday on Why You Shouldn’t Blog really hit a lot of what I’m feeling. A bit of “it was the best of times it was the worst of time” is my feeling currently. I think it is just that I want more time in general 🙂 There are so many things I want to learn and do.
Thanks for listening (umm… reading)! I wanted to get a few things out of my head, but would love to get a little feedback on any of it 🙂 Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Just saying hi! I’ve missed chatting over email this week. You’ve done your first real random post, love it! I’ve been the worst blogger on the planet this week and feel terrible about the lapse. We’re putting too much pressure on ourselves. I’ve had to completely buck the rules lately and you know what, it’s ok :))). Hugs my friend.
Thanks for the love my friend, you’re the best!
I’m totally like you, I can’t have a schedule, it feels too restrictive and too much like work. I know it’s great for some people, but I guess you and I aren’t one of them!
To me, blogging is a hobby. If it starts to feel stressful, I need a break from it. Social media is usually the only part I find really stressful, so that’s what I take a break from first.
There are no set rules in blogging, you do what you like! In the beginning I read everything I could find about blogging “rules” and tried to live by them, but it didn’t work for me. The most important part about blogging is to have fun! If you don’t, something needs to change.
Google+ is the most confusing platform I have ever seen, I joined a few months ago but are absolutley passive. I can’t figure it out. I may as well not be part of it, but I like how they sometimes automatically “Auto-Awesome” my photos! 🙂
Thanks for the shout-out! That was really sweet 🙂 I like this post because we’re on the same wavelength. When it becomes a chore, take a break from blogging. Simple as that. I like your idea for the cocktail series. I think it’s awesome that you’re able to keep up with your “series” posts. Because I usually get bored with them and am not so good at maintaining them. Again, the “chore” issue! Thanks for sharing about Miriam’s post – I’m about to read that next!
This is your blog, your rules. Post when you want, what you want. I’ve never committed to a schedule or series of topics cause I’m inconsistent like that. And I know it, so I don’t put the pressure on myself. I think you’ll enjoy it a little more if you’re lax on the “rules” (<– who made them up anyways?!). I'm with you on genuine relationships. I will never be one to blow smoke up someones ass with a generic "I'm drooling" or "that looks sooo good!" I might not post consistently, but I put thought into my comments. The connection is more important to me than the stats. In summation, I'm all for doing your own thing. Your readers will still be here 🙂
Kathy’s confession posts are always fun to do. I’m impressed you have so many posts written and scheduled ahead of time. Hope you have a good weekend!
you blog when you want! that’s what i’ve always believed in. when it becomes too much of a chore and you find that you’re just doing it for the audience and not yourself, then it’s time to take a little break and recharge/reevaluate. the link up is always there if you have nothing to write but feel like writing..you know those days you have an urge to write but can’t come up with anything coherent. hell, that’s like me all day but the linkup is fun to get those random things out that are floating through your mind. no pressure to join though – YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT!!
This was me about a month ago! I feel like there are so many new bloggers and they all want to be big, fast and don’t care about connections. I think a lot of bloggers are burned out on daily posting, too. I have been much happier only posting a few times a week, not being caught up on twitter, and not commenting on every post. Yeah, my numbers have changed a little but my blog friends are still there so it’s okay. Good luck finding a combo that works for you!
I go through ups and downs with my blog all the time, some weeks like recently I post all the time but then other weeks go by with only one or two posts and I think that is fine. I always figure the people who care to read what I have to say will be happy to read it every Sunday or whenever the heck I get it done!
