It’s time to flip the switch. This is what P says to me to turn the mood around if I am upset or frustrated about something. Well, it’s time to flip the switch on my approach to this blog. Like with most things I’ve held back, over thought, and played it safe. What if people hate it, what if it is a stupid idea, what if I don’t fit in? I wrote some of what I was feeling in last Friday post and I’ve been thinking about it more this week.
The reasons I started this blog still hold true so I’m feeling good there, but it is my approach that I want to change. Lately, I’ve been feeling that blogging is getting in the of way exploring other skills, and it is hard to balance learning and putting out content. Of course, I realize it is 100% self-imposed because there is no one I have to report to or a set schedule I have to keep. So, I’m fixing that feeling, which I have complete control over, (genius right..side note: need to invent sarcasm font) and I’m going to incorporate more of those “other” things on these pages. I’m not exactly sure how that will translate, but it is going to be a little different around here. I’m probably going to share more projects and share more about what/how/why of what I’m learning. I’m going to be less routine and rigid in my schedule and hopefully in my writing too.
What are these mysterious “other things” you ask 😉 I’ve been working on learning how to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator…which I talked about in my Skillshare post and I’m really enjoying it. I’ve signed up for the monthly membership to Skillshare and have about 100 classes on my wishlist. Additionally, I’m preparing to jump into the photography pool and start learning how to use a DSLR camera. I’ve been polling some of my fellow bloggers on what cameras they own and everyone has been so nice. They seem to be mostly team Canon. I looked at a couple of Canon models already, so I may be following the crowd on this one (though there is a Nikon still in consideration). Don’t worry there will still be plenty of food, booze, and travel, but NOW with more randomness mixed in!
Hope you will stick around for the ride 🙂
Two posts this week that jolted my mindset were:
“Letter to My 22 year-old Self” from Found Love Now What: Belinda asked “what would you tell yourself at 22?” Part of my answer would be – don’t play it so safe and trust in yourself…and honestly that is something that I still need to work on. I’ve come a long way, but even in this space, that is all mine, and I can do whatever I want, I am still playing it safe and trying to follow the “rules”.
“My Unwanted Houseguest” from Eternally Wanderlyn: Lynsey talked about not letting fear hold you back.
I’ll be back Friday, with Part 3 of “Spring Clean Your Beauty Routine”…see I’m not dropping everything 🙂
P.S. I’m writing this from my new computer! #54 checked off from the 101 in 1001!
