Time is flying by as we pack up our lives in North Carolina and get ready for the move. It’s hard to say goodbye, but at the same time I’m (we’re) so excited and ready to start our new adventure. I think it makes it a bit easier saying goodbye, as I know we will make trips back, plus I’m hoping our friends will come visit. Do I enjoy the stress of moving…not so much, but what I do love is it is a chance to start fresh. I love the newest of everything; you get to explore and find all new spots. It’s not as if I feel we need to escape anything here or that I was miserable in Raleigh, it’s that I get tired of the sameness. Moving gives you not only a new environment but also a chance to reset…to reset daily routines, to reset your house, to reset your hobbies. Can you reset these things without moving? Absolutely…moving however gives you a good timeline/excuse 🙂
Part of that resetting is focusing on trying to purge and clean out our stuff. Could I pack our house in less than a week?…of course…could I pack our house in a week and not take a bunch of crap?…less likely. For some reason, I thought I would feel I have all this time, time to blog, time to socialize, and time to organize, but like I said time is flying. I’ve been itching to get back to the blog and get posts together, but I’m also very committed to really organizing and purging every room of our house. Going through everything is proving more time consuming than I thought. Inspiration struck to write this post, but then my mind wandered….I should clean-out my lounge around the house clothes because the shirt I currently have on is so comfortable but all of them are not…why am I keeping not so comfortable lounge clothes? My mind wanders and is torn between too many thoughts…which is why I haven’t been here, but at the same time I’ve been thinking a lot about this space.
Super weird introduction, but I wanted to get some things off my chest. Now (to the real post)–I thought a little house tour was in order before we moved, I like house tour posts and it is a nice documentation just for us. So without further ado – our little house…
P took the above picture, not me 🙂
None of the pictures are touched up etc… I don’t have the patience/time and I’m trying to be real. I realized looking at the pictures I should have made a better effort to tidy things up, but too late now 🙂 I also tried to give you a sense of the layout, so that is why there is multiple pictures of the same room.
The upstairs “attic” area was converted into the master bedroom and bath, so it is an open floor plan upstairs. The shower and toilet is to the right in the picture below.
Past the beer fridge and freezer, is the back door that leads to the fenced in back yard. The washer and dryer is to the right before the back door. The two other bedrooms and the second bathroom is to the left in the picture above. The bedroom to the right we use for storage and the other room served as guest room/office/other storage/eddie’s room. I didn’t include pictures since both are a bit of a mess; I had already started packing when I snapped these pictures 🙂
Goodbye Raleigh House!!
I loved our house here and the neighborhood. We are about a mile from the center of downtown Raleigh, so we could easily walk to restaurants/bars/events. We even have three breweries closer than a mile (though only two are good). We have fond memories here.
