Winter is the perfect time to catch-up on your tv watching, don’t you think? It’s cold, it is dark by five…it’s the perfect excuse to order take-out and curl up on the couch for some binge watching. We subscribe to Hulu Plus, Netflix, & Amazon Prime and we should use them 🙂 Here are a few shows I’ve been binging on lately:

Hannibal
I actually heard of this one through Kathy (Vodka and Soda). I’m not exactly sure how to describe this show, serial killer/psychological thriller…you know Hannibal “Hello Clarice”. P and I started it over the Christmas break and were sucked in. Season 1 is available on Amazon Prime currently, and we bought season 2 so we can be caught up when season 3 is released. This show is fairly graphic, not a dinner time watch. I can only watch one or two per night since it is pretty intense. If you were a Dexter fan, you would probably like this show. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Manhattan
This show documents the development of the atomic bomb, following both the scientists and their families. We completely binged watched this over Christmas break too. I think the story is very interesting and the characters grab you. I get a bit frustrated with the whole idea of them not being able to collaborate…it makes no sense.
House of Cards
If you haven’t gotten on this band wagon yet…jump on. I love Kevin Spacey and find this show shocking, fast paced, and at times funny. I also enjoy the fact you can binge watch seasons, since Netflix releases the show by season not individual shows. Season 3 is coming back on in February, so get on it!
Being Human
A vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost walk into a bar….I’m just kidding. Actually, they are all roommates. This is a new one we just started watching, and I like it. It’s quirky and funny, plus it has the whole supernatural twist going for it.
Nashville
This is one I started watching during the day (ie a show I can watch that P won’t care about). I don’t even like country music and I’ve totally been sucked into this show. I think the acting is good, the singing is good, and the storyline keeps you interested.
Parenthood
This is another one that I only started watching this year (and another “me” not “us” show). This show follows the lives of the Braverman family across generations. I like the “real” life aspect of the storyline, not everything is always perfect. Again, I think it is well written, great acting, and storyline. I think this one is better than Nashville in storyline (less soap opera type drama), and it is in the last season now. You can watch the prior season on Netflix (no commercials!)

I tried to do House of Cards, but I just couldn’t get on board. I gave it a good solid effort, about 5 episodes or so, but never went any further.

You did make a solid effort 🙂 When we were in France, we saw a ton of ads for House of Cards and I wondered how the show comes off to people in other countries. Since the setting is in our governmental system.
I freaking love House of Cards.
I was a huge Nashville fan for the first and first half of the second season then just dropped it.
Manhattan is on my list!

I have watched most of the UK version of Being Human and really enjoyed it!

I’m obsessed with Parenthood. It’s so smart and Lauren Graham is awesome. My bff and I just started watching Criminal Minds. It’s super old school but I forgot how much I love this show.
I enjoy Parenthood a lot. I’ve seen Criminal Minds but never got into it, maybe I’ll try again:)

Hannibal sounds like it would be right up my alley, because I was obsessed with Dexter. That one goes on my list of must-watch shows!
All I know of Parenthood is that apparently it makes people cry – is there lots of drama? I’m on the final season of Gilmore Girls (I’m already getting separation anxiety and dread the day when I’m done), thank you so much for new suggestions!
Well, I am too because I have not heard of half the shows that were recommended 🙂 I think you will like Hannibal if you like Detxer. It’s intense though! If you like Gilmore Girls then you might like Parenthood. You should give it a try!

I definitely have different taste in show than you do 🙂 I’m in the middle of Rescue Me and rewatching all of SouthLAnd. Not sure what I’ll do next, maybe try House of Cards again. I couldn’t get past the first scene of the first episode when he killed the dog. I do want to watch Graceland but I can’t find it anywhere.
Well I definetly will check out your post! I’m so behind this week, we are currently on a little vacation. I plan on spending Sunday catching up 🙂 I’ve watched of few seasons of Rescue Me. I’ll have to check out Southland. I don’t know Gracepoint either. I don’t know about a ton of shows!!

i’m totally into Banshee and so sad that SOA ended. i’ve heard so much about Gotham and The Flash so i must might pick them up!
Yes, Hannibal is great! It’s very intense. We just finished season 2, omg the finale…I’m very interested in where season 3 goes. I think I liked season 1 over season 2 though. I’ll have to look into Banshee. We watch Gotham, it’s pretty good, the writing could be better.
I’m current on Nashville and Parenthood (so many tears!). I can’t wait for the latest House of Cards. I am bingeing on Borgias right now. Definitely worth checking out!

I’ve never even heard of some of these! We have started watching The Hundred, The 100?? either way I’m not sure-on Netflix since we finished up Hemlock Grove (REALLY weird). After this I think we will start on Wentworth.
I’ll have to look those two up, I don’t think I’ve heard of either. We started Hemlock Grove, but I just couldn’t stay with it as it got weirder.
I love House of Cards and Being Human! We haven’t had time with house reno to catch up on too many shows, but there will be some definite binge-watching soon to clear our DVR. I’m waiting for Blacklist to start up again after the Super Bowl, too.

I like to think so, but it’s hard to take the time to go through a good solid binge-watching session when we have so much to get done. Still, I think at least some of Saturday will be devoted to a solid catch-up session to get reacquainted with Red Reddington!

House of Cards! House of Cards! I’m really excited for season 3. I also want to start watching Parenthood this year. I like to start shows right as they’re ending on the networks because then I can selfishly binge watch and not have to wait for “next week”.
That’s the perfect time to start a show 🙂 I’m the same way with books series too, I hate waiting to see what happens next!

Nashville is my guilty pleasure. Andrew watches it, but hates it! We both love Parenthood, though warning, in later seasons you will be like “WTF what hasn’t this family endured?” I’m sad to see it go, though. I binged Parks and Rec over Christmas and now I think I want to start 30 Rock. We also rewatch Breaking Bad in order when nothing else is on, but since I’ve seen it, I’ll only watch two in a day because I get bored… but we just now got to the Gus seasons so that might change 🙂
I’m not sure P would care for Nashville. I’m sad this is the last season of Parks & Rec:( I started 30 Rock but didn’t finish it, I need to pick that back up.
