Hello Blogland, welcome to my creative Sunday! Each Sunday I’m going to try to post something that I worked on in the past week that is exercising creativity. I’m doing this to make sure I’m trying something new each week, and trying to finish projects. I want to push myself to try new things, and sharing them helps. It’s going to be a mixed bag 🙂
This week I finished this hand-lettering course on Skillshare:
Here is a little of my practice:

I was hoping to get a quote together or something, but that didn’t’ happen this week. Oh well, small steps. Hopefully next Sunday will be a bit more exciting or at least prettier. Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!!
What did you create this past week?
my handwriting is awful, as is my creative bone.. hahaha. but i love the idea of it! yours looks fab.
That’s not true Kristen, maybe you just haven’t found the right inspiration 🙂 Everyone is creative. Plus I know you come up with some very creative writing and some creative post ideas (beyond the writing). So there, you are creative. I use to think I was not creative either, but I think that is just another label we hide under to not try new things. I know that it comes easier to some people than it does to me, and a lot of mine is a hot mess, but I’m trying to push myself to try.
aw shucks thanks love! i guess when i think creative, i think crafty or arty, and i am definitely neither of those. but i guess if you expand it, maybe i am a little 🙂
My handwriting is TERRIBLE. I always wanted to be awesome at calligraphy or hand lettering and that is a dream that will likely die. LOL Yours looks great!
Oh my handwriting is terrible too!! For some reason I thought doing this might help…of course I did not think through the fact I said I would share it, even if it was lame 🙂 I’m going to keep working at it. You guys are oh too kind 🙂 Thanks Steph!!
I really want to learn hand lettering! Your tips and the resources you shared are great. Can’t wait to see your progress as you continue to work on this new skill!
Thank you Amy. I was thinking that I should have put together a bit more to share in terms of inspiration or resources for the post. The series itself is a learning process too 🙂
Awesome new feature, your creative Sunday! I really like how you edited your first photo, it looks Andy Warhol-esque, very cool.
Hand lettering looks so pretty, it’s a wonderful skill to have. It’s looking good, keep at it!
I wanted something a bit abstract for the title picture, just playing in Photoshop 🙂 We will see how it goes, I have not practiced with it this week yet.
This is a nice goal! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Isabel! I’m not sure I thought having to share something (even when lame) all the way through but oh well 🙂
I’ve wanted to learn hand-lettering for a while and this looks like a great way to not only get started, but practice patience in learning a new skill!
Yes, I have trouble with the patience part 🙂 It’s an easy one to get started in, so that is a nice plus.
I think this is the sign I need to give hand lettering a try! I’ve been seeing it everywhere and it looks like a great way to relax and be creative!
It was fun, though I can’t say I made much progress yet 🙂 I really liked this http://skl.sh/1NGrQbn Skillshare class for hand-lettering too. It was a bit more involved, and I have not sat down to try it out yet. I liked his approach though.
