This month we moved to a new house, same neighborhood, because we like our hood, just a different house. I wanted to do a little post on our first house in San Diego. I like looking back at the one I did for the Raleigh house, it’s a nice little memento. Plus I love when people give us a little peek inside their houses 🙂 I really can’t believe we have been in San Diego for a year! It does not feel like a year to me AT ALL. Crazy! You know what else is crazy? How bad these pictures are, sorry peeps! This is why you should probably not shoot with no plan, download them, and not take a look until you want to do the post. However, I will not be deterred from posting to the internet, must solider forward 🙂 Avert your eyes if you must.
So, we are total rent-oholics and can’t stay in one place for too long. This house was almost perfect, and was very nicely and newly refinished. BUT, it wasn’t quite right. The major downsides were: It did not have a fenced in yard, and it was on a shared lot (which you can’t tell from the picture, but people lived below us, however they were nice neighbors). Basically, P decided he wanted to take a look at what was out there, next thing you know we have viewing appointments, and boom we are moving.
Here is a little look at the place we lived our first year in San Diego:
So you walk into a long open room. Living room to the left, dining area/kitchen to the right. I staged NOTHING, I just walked around snapping pictures willy-nilly, not even bothering to straighten or fluff, nor turn off the tv, or move Sam’s bed 🙂
Also, Sam followed me around as I snapped the pictures. He wanted his two-minutes 🙂

I loved how open the layout out was of the kitchen/dining/living room. Lots of light too.
Almost too much light in the bedroom! A little note on the tv, it resided in the office until one sick day and P moved it to the bedroom for me, and it never made it’s way back. We rarely watch tv in the bedroom. Once in a year it was turned on.

I loved our palm tree out front. And below is Pagie, the neighborhood cat, that always hung out on our porch and everyone assumed it was our non-taken care of cat. She was just old, she was literally feed by the whole neighborhood. Very very sweet kitty. But Eddie’s an only child kind of cat, he tolerates the dog. We did not mind the extra company though.

Very nice house you choose for you and i think this is the most perfect place for you. I also like to new house especially in the new location. It makes me so pleasure. Thank you so much for write so well.
This house is so cute! I wish I could find one like this to rent up in LA (for a reasonable price)… maybe now is a good time to start looking. We have the same counter tops in our apartment kitchen and they make me crazy because it’s so hard to tell if they are clean! I wipe them down, think they are clean, then run a towel over them and find a whole nother layer of dirt! Ugh.
Thanks Erika. Yes, they are hard to tell if there is something one them. P grinds his own coffee and I can’t tell you how many times I set something down and then there is coffee grind dust on it, because I didn’t realize he had not wiped it down.
aww Paige is so cute! your house is super cute – my cats do the same thing, follow me around when I take photos. We don’t have a TV in our bedroom, but I like the idea of moving it in on a sick day lol. gorgeous house, sorry you had to move, but here’s to the next house!
Paige was such a sweet cat. We had that tv in the bedroom in Raleigh and we only used it once or twice. I do like it when I’m sick and can’t sleep, and need distraction 🙂 but otherwise we just watch tv in the living room. Oh it was a completely self-inflicted move 🙂 If only that house was a stand alone and had a fenced in yard and it would have been perfect.
It’s a beautiful house! I’m so glad that it treated you well while you called it home. Also, I love all the animal photo bombs. 🙂 Best of luck as you get settled into the new house! Even if it’s in the same neighborhood, moving is stressful.
Thank you Amy! This was one of the hardest moves we had to date. There was a lot of little repair issues with the new house, that were super annoying and should have been taken care of before we took over the lease. At least we had a full-week of lease overlap, but it was still super super annoying and took time away from getting settled. The animals were like, ummm what are you doing 🙂

Thanks for sharing because I think I know where you live and am always curious about the insides of those houses. I love those cute little bungalow homes! I lived on Arizona and Mississippi but never in a house. Always apartments. I like your minimalist furnishings. Cute place, so I know the new house has to be just as cute!
It’s fun to get to see other people’s homes. I always like home tours, in NC different areas use to host home parades, where you could see inside people’s houses. I like to keep things easy, plus I always want it to be versatile…b/c we do move so often 🙂

Having palm trees in your front yard is always crazy for me, probably because we have never lived anywhere where it’s warm enough for that.
I think because palm trees have not been the norm for me either, I was entranced by it 🙂 Sam must be involved in whatever I’m doing, even cleaning he follows me around until I do something that scares him 🙂
I love looking into other people’s houses too! There’s something so great about seeing how others live! And I love Sam! My dog Flash also loves the camera! It must be a Lab thing! 🙂
I always love when people do a little “behind” the scenes posts. Sam is a sweetie. Maybe being hams is a Lab thing 🙂 They like to be and do what the people are doing.
I don’t think they’re terrible at all. It’s real life. A house should be lived in, it’s not a museum. I like it! It’s a sweet place. Can’t wait to see the new one!

that house looks great! but i’m sure your new place is even better 🙂 we use blackout drapes and shutters for our bedroom because there’s nothing worse than bright sunlight streaming in and waking you up when youre not ready.
The new bedroom is much better for sleeping. I love it dark in the bedroom! I’m not sure the new house it better, just different. It’s hard to find the perfect rental 🙂
