I’m Back and Unpacked

September 16, 2014 by Mariah 26 Comments

I’m back and now residing in sunny, sunny San Diego. I can’t believe how little I’ve been able to post the last few months; it feels so good to be moved and getting back to a routine. I thought there is no better way to get back into the swing of blogging than to join in for Kathy’s Humpday Confessions.

Vodka and Soda

So here is just a whole lot of randomness for you:

Rain! Food, Booze, & Baggage

  • It’s SO SO very hot here in San Diego. All we heard from everyone is how perfect the weather is and how unusual this is…I’m melting, melting!! We were also told that storms and rain were a rarity, but not even a week in, and we experienced our first storm. Lies, lies, all lies 😉
  • I’m still organizing and pictures need to be hung, but I have most of the boxes unpacked. I’m so very happy not to be surrounded by boxes!! We still have too much stuff, despite doing quite a lot of clean-out in NC.

Dinner Food, Booze, & Baggage

  • We ate our first meal cooked at home last night! Roasted chicken (which was a stupid choice since it was a million degrees already without the oven) and a tomato and asparagus salad. Feels good to eat at home after eating out for over 3 weeks.

Sam and Eddie Road Trip Food, Booze, & Baggage

  • I was very proud of Eddie and Sam on our drive across the country. They both did SO well. Sam was actually excited to get into the car everyday. Eddie adjusted to the new environments with zero issues and was good in the carrier. No accidents or upset tummies either. Seriously, they acted like it was totally normal to be in the car for 8 hours everyday. I’m planning a full post on that adventure soon. It was a pretty amazing drive.

California Food, Booze, & Baggage

  • I’m super excited to start exploring San Diego and getting to try ALL the new places!! I’ve decided to start a monthly round-up of our San Diego adventures, so be on the look out starting in October for my Discovering San Diego series. I’ve also been trying to update Instagram regularly with some of our new adventures (and by adventures I mean mostly food) 🙂

That is all for now! Bottom-line: move is over so expect to see more of me around here…you’ve been warned!

I’m Going to be a Cali Girl

New Adventures via Food, Booze, & Baggage

I have some major news…P and I are moving to California, specifically to San Diego!! I’m freaked out and SO excited all at the same time!! Basically, I’m flipping my F-ing lid 🙂 We are thinking it will happen September (ish).

Ok, so this is going to be a short post, because my mind is fried and I cannot focus. Any recommendations on where to live, things to do, places to eat and places to drink? I know that San Diego has over 80 breweries….WHAT!!?!

Things I’m worried about  (there is a million things I’m worried about but here are a few):

  • How are we going to survive a cross-country road-trip in a Mini with a Lab and a kitty? Even without the animals, I’ve never driven that far before.  I’m dead set on driving, I will not fly Sam. I read this terrible post about a dog dying on a plane and just will not risk it.
  • Moving cross-country and all the logistics of that.
  • Finding a place to live (ok this is like #1), also despite San Diego being rumored a dog friendly city, it does not seem to hold true for the rental market.
  • Fitting-in, in California (actually I’m not overly worried about this, as P points out I can get along anywhere). Still.
  • Moving to a city I’ve never even visited.
  • Getting in shape, since I plan on living in a bathing suit half the year.
  • Being cold most of the year…lower 70s does not seem warm enough to me.

Worries aside, I’m over the moon excited!! I love being able to have a new adventure and I’m so grateful for the opportunity! My mind is spinning with all the new opportunities and planning to do!

Confession: I’m writing this after 3 bottles of champagne 🙂 okay two champagne and one cava. Stop grilling me 😉
