Taking a Skillshare course is our 4th prompt of the Creative Collective, invented by the creative Melyssa over at The Nectar Collective. Alright folks let me just say I love, love Skillshare…it is AWESOME and as soon as you read my little post you should jump right over there and take a look. They have classes on everything! I wish I could take them all!!
I have completed two classes and really wish I had time to take more. I know I will take more soon but I really had hoped to have a few more completed before the prompt. The two courses I did complete were:
Introduction to Photoshop: Fundamentals for Beginners by Meg Lewis

Learn the Ins and Outs of Illustrator by Brad Woodard
Both classes were awesome and I learned a lot. I love that you can go back and look at a class at anytime so if you forget how to do something it is right there for reference. I do think that Meg’s class was better organized and flowed better, basically walking you step by step through the project. I love that way of learning. Brad’s course did not flow as smoothly and was not exactly set up in a step by step manner. It jumped around quite a bit. However, he covered a TON of tips/tricks/material…you got a huge amount of information. Both classes taught me a lot and I have been using some of these new skills on graphics for my posts:
One very handy trick I used when doing these courses was streaming the class through the TV, that way I could follow along on my laptop (I used the iPad to stream to the Apple TV). I was super excited when I figured this out!
I want to take all the classes but here are a couple of my top picks:
Beyond the Logo: Crafting a Brand Identity
By Courtney Eliseo
Pattern Design: Patterns for Printed Textiles and Products
By Kristi O’Meara
The Art of Typography: Communicate Effectively Through the Power of Type
By Faye Brown
Lettering for Designers: One Drop Cap Letterform at a Time
By Jessica Hische
So, get over there and find something you want to learn. If you are really nice you will use THIS LINK –you save $10 off your first class and I can get $10 off my next class! Also, make sure to check out their membership classes. For $9.95 a month you can get free access to “membership” classes and 20% off other classes…plus you can cancel at anytime…how awesome is that!
Let me know in the comments what Skillshare classes you have taken or you want to take!
